For the people who like ice cream in winter and those who like baked goods all year round, Munchies Ice Cream and Bake Shop recently opened the doors at 151 W. Main St., Arcadia. The store is owned and operated by Tricia Perkinson and her son Tyler Bertsch.
The Reporter recently spoke with Perkinson about the business and what customers can expect when they stop in.
“We have mostly ice cream and cookies, but we have some other products as well,” Perkinson said. “Everything we bake is kind of intended to go with ice cream: the cupcakes, the cakes, ice cream cake, ice cream cookie sandwiches. We make sundae bowls out of chocolate chip cookies. We have hot or warm peach cobbler, and warm apple crisp with ice cream on top. In addition to cookies, we have cinnamon rolls, cupcakes, cakes, and we will have ice cream cakes.”
Perkinson said the first business they opened was Pat-A-Cakes in Noblesville, which opened in 2006. That business later moved to Westfield and Fishers. Now they are bringing ice cream, baked goods, and a variety of flavored sodas to downtown Arcadia.
According to Perkinson, Munchies is happy to take large orders for baked goods, and would even be happy to ship cookies to whomever you want for holiday gift giving to people far away.
“You just give us the information, and we’ll ship them out,” Perkinson said. “You can do a dozen a box, and we just need the address of where it’s going, and then we can ship them out.”

Munchies has temporary hours right now, but Perkinson told The Reporter they will have expanded hours when warm weather arrives next spring.
- Monday & Tuesday: closed
- Wednesday through Friday: 2 to 7 p.m.
- Saturday: noon to 7 p.m.
- Sunday: noon to 5 p.m.

Munchies at the Arcadia Christmas Market
This Saturday, Dec. 6, stop by Munchies during the 10th annual Arcadia Christmas Tree Lighting, which takes place from 4 to 8 p.m. on Main Street.
Arcadia’s festivities will begin at 4 p.m. with the tree lighting at 7 p.m. Santa and Mrs. Claus are scheduled to arrive downtown at 5 p.m. You can dance to music from a live DJ, warm up around the fire pits, enjoy a chili supper and activities for kids, and also shop for holiday gifts at the artisan market.
