Sheridan Elementary School celebrated its annual Thanksgiving lunch on Wednesday, Nov. 19, which turns the lunch period into a time of excitement and gratitude.
This idea began two years ago and has now grown into a beloved tradition and continues to leave lasting memories for students and staff alike.
Following the celebration, Principal Valerie Roberts shared her appreciation with staff.

“You are the best! Our students are so loved!” Roberts said. “Thank you to each of you for taking your time to eat with the students today. You just made a really great memory!”
This annual celebration highlights what is most important to Sheridan Community Schools: community. Staff members picked lunch periods to sit with students, talk with them, and share in the excitement of the day. While some teachers didn’t eat the Thanksgiving meal, they simply showed up to see all the students. This makes them feel seen, valued, and supported, as their presence alone makes a difference.
On the day of this special luncheon, the cafeteria was transformed into a festive fall dining room. The tables were covered with tablecloths and there were even center pieces. The cafeteria staff prepared and served the meal and ensured that each student enjoyed not only good food, but also the feeling of being a part of a special celebration.
As Sheridan Elementary looks ahead, this annual event will surely continue to grow, as it reminds everyone of the power of coming together as one school family.
