Carmel started fast against Harrison and rolled to a 56-7 victory in the semifinals of Class 6A Sectional 3 on Friday, Oct. 31 at Carmel Stadium.
The No. 2-ranked Greyhounds led 35-0 after the first quarter. Andrew Pemberton broke 100 yards in rushing during the first four minutes of the contest, scoring a 66-yard touchdown at the 10:21 mark, then running in from 44 yards with 8:37 left.
Carmel’s defense got in on the action when Drake Coellner took an interception 40 yards for a touchdown midway through the quarter. Josiah Gilmore added a five-yard rushing TD, then Spencer Sell caught a 10-yard touchdown pass from Anthony Coellner at the end of the quarter.
Pemberton (eight yards) and Gilmore (six yards) both scored touchdowns in the second quarter. That gave the Hounds a 49-0 lead at halftime and the entire second half was played under a running clock.
Ayden Johnson scored on a two-yard touchdown run at the beginning of the fourth quarter. The Raiders scored their lone TD with a pass midway through the fourth.
Pemberton had a highly-efficient game, totaling 132 yards on six carries – an average of 22 yards per rush. Anthony Coellner also played solid, completing 12 of 15 pass attempts for 150 yards. Sell and Carson Clark both made three receptions.
Carmel is 9-1 for the season and hosts No. 5 Westfield this Friday for the Sectional 6 championship.
