The Hamilton Southeastern boys tennis team won its first sectional title since 2022 on Thursday.
The ninth-ranked Royals beat No. 20 Fishers 4-1 to claim the Sectional 31 trophy at the Tigers’ tennis courts. Southeastern has now won 15 sectional championships in program history.
All five of the matches were decided in straight sets. Brady Stump was a 6-0, 6-2 winner at No. 1 singles, while Parker Stump won a tough No. 2 singles match over Fishers’ Chaddha Siddharth, 6-3, 7-6 (5). Southeastern also swept the doubles: No. 1 Logan Foust and Landon Osswald were 6-0, 6-3 winners and No. 2 Max Weinberger and Ian Ransom got a 6-2, 6-4 victory.
Rohen Maniandan won the No. 3 singles match for the Tigers, 6-3, 6-1.
The Royals advance to the Regional 8 tournament at Mt. Vernon, which begins Tuesday with the semifinals. Southeastern will play the winner of the Richmond sectional, which finishes this afternoon with the championship match between Northeastern and Centerville.
