Paving project: Towne Run Boulevard
Paving for the Courtyards of Towne Run is tentatively scheduled for Saturday, Nov. 1. Minimal impact to traffic is anticipated on Towne Road and Towne Run Boulevard, but there will be a single lane closure during paving. Please use caution in this area.
Trail construction: 161st Street Path
Construction on the city’s 161st Street Path project began Monday, Oct. 20. The path connectivity project will be constructed on the south side of East 161st Street between Oak Road and Carey Road. Intermittent short-term restrictions of the eastbound lane of 161st Street are possible throughout the duration of the project for activities, such as unloading heavy equipment and other construction materials. The project is scheduled to be substantially complete on Nov. 20, with final completion in June 2026.
INDOT closure: Moontown Road
The Indiana Department of Transportation contract crews will resume work on an intersection improvement project at State Road 38 and Moontown Road/Hinkle Road. The project includes the installation of new traffic signals and turn lanes.
Moontown Road is closed at SR 38 for up to 45 days. The official detour will follow Grassy Branch Road, 191st Street, and Little Chicago Road.
During construction, both shoulders of SR 38 will be closed between East Street and Little Chicago Road, and the speed limit will be reduced to 45 mph. Hinkle Road is scheduled to close once Moontown Road reopens. Overall construction is anticipated to be complete by the end of January.
Lane restrictions: Grassy Branch Road
Intermittent lane restrictions are anticipated on Grassy Branch Road between Grassy Knoll Drive and Mere Boulevard for a sidewalk project. The project is expected be completed by Oct. 31. Please use caution in this area.
Closure: Towne Road
On Sept. 15, Towne Road from 146th Street to Towne Run Road closed for construction of a roundabout tying into Old 146th Street. Please detour by using 146th Street to Ditch Road to 151st Street. This closure will tentatively last 60 days. All dates and timelines are subject to change due to weather, utilities, etc.
Partial closure: 171st Street
As of Sept. 11, a portion of 171st Street near Ditch Road is partially closed for 45 days. Ditch Road going north and south will remain open to through traffic, but please be aware of construction crews working in this area. There will still be access to Maple Glen Elementary. This construction is part of the 171st Street and Ditch Road roundabout.
Transmission line extension project
Citizens Gas will begin the second phase of its transmission line extension project that began in 2024. Operations will be along the east side of Oak Ridge Road between Oak Ridge and Holly Farms Drive (Viking Meadows entrance).
