The Kiwanis Club of Cicero invites the community for an evening of food, fellowship, and fundraising at the Club’s inaugural Dinner and Silent Auction, with proceeds supporting the Books for a Bright Future program.
The event will take place from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 19 at DeLullo’s Trattoria, 230 W. Jackson St., Cicero.
Books for a Bright Future was born out of a simple but powerful belief: every child deserves the opportunity to own books of their very own. Reading is the gateway to learning, to growing, and to achieving future success. Yet, too many children in the community do not have access to books at home. That’s where the Cicero Kiwanis step in.
At the Club’s very first book fair, members were reminded of why this program matters so deeply. A little girl walked up to the table, and when told she could pick any book she liked, she quietly replied, “Oh, I don’t have any money to buy books.” When she learned the books were free, she said, “I have never had a book of my very own.”
Moments like that are why Books for a Bright Future exists – because no child should miss out on the joy, imagination, and confidence that reading can bring.
Through your support, the Cicero Kiwanis have already been able to put hundreds of books into the hands of children in the community, but the need continues to grow. Your generosity ensures that more children experience the magic of books and the doors they open.
