Hamilton Heights picked up a Hoosier Conference win at Twin Lakes 25-17 on Friday, Oct. 3.
The Indians scored the only points of the first quarter on a field goal. The Huskies got on the board in the second quarter when AJ Flannagan took a two-yard run into the end zone for the first of Heights’ four touchdowns. Twin Lakes regained the lead with a passing touchdown before halftime, making the score 10-6 at the break.
Flannagan struck again early in the third period, zooming 44 yards for his second TD of the game. The Huskies led 12-10 and would not trail again. Dre Chandler made sure of that when he intercepted an Indians pass and took it 52 yards for a touchdown. A Grady Steiner kick gave the Huskies a 19-10 lead.
Minutes later, Jay Sykes caught a touchdown throw from Drew Woodruff, Twin Lakes scored late in the third quarter, but Heights held on in the fourth period for the victory.
Flannagan finished with 201 yards rushing on 29 carries. Woodruff had an efficient night, completing 14 of 19 pass attempts for 145 yards. Cam Fleming caught five of those throws for 56 yards.
Chandler led the total tackles with eight. Landon Hickman, Will Duncan and Cyrus Mason all made one sack.
The Huskies are 2-1 in the Hoosier Conference Big School Division and 3-4 overall. Heights will host Tipton this Friday.
