Carmel cruised to another victory Friday, Oct. 3, beating Ben Davis 43-0 at the Giants Stadium.
The Greyhounds scored in every quarter and got their first touchdown 21 seconds into the game. Anthony Coellner ran the ball 35 yards into the end zone, followed by Matthew Obermeier making the first of his five extra-point kicks.
A safety with four minutes left in the period gave Carmel a 9-0 lead. The Hounds added two touchdowns in the second quarter: Andrew Pemberton sprinted 37 yards for a score, then Coellner found Jacob Bellin for a 48-yard TD midway through the period. Obermeier kicked a last-minute field goal to give Carmel a 26-0 halftime advantage.
Coellner made a short-run touchdown during the third quarter, then Obermeier kicked another long field goal, from 47 yards, to put the Greyhounds up 36-0 and institute a running clock. Pemberton completed the scoring with a 20-yard touchdown run in the fourth period.
Pemberton totaled 135 yards rushing on 15 carries, or nine yards per carry.
Carmel is now 6-1 for the season and hosts Warren Central this Friday.
