Noblesville Millers (1-7, 0-6 HCC) at 6A No. 11 Avon Orioles (4-4, 2-4 HCC)
Tonight is the 25th meeting between Noblesville and Avon on the gridiron. The Orioles have a 20-4 record against the Millers. They won last year, 24-18 and 17 of the last 18 going back to 2007.
Last week, Avon ended a two-game slide with a 14-7 win at Zionsville. Starting out 2-0 with highlight wins over Decatur Central and Ben Davis, the Orioles lost to HSE and Brownsburg before getting their third win against Franklin Central. Two losses to Fishers and Westfield preceded the win at Zionsville in Week 8.
Jace Cameron passes 63.5 percent (134-211) for 1,595 yards and 13 touchdowns and also has six interceptions.
Andre Warfield has rushed for 844 yards (105.5 per game) and 11 TDs. Shawn Curry is the leading receiver with 727 yards on 45 catches and has seven touchdowns.
Avon hosts Ben Davis on Oct. 31 in Class 6A Sectional 5 to start the playoffs.
Noblesville has lost seven straight. After being edged by Homestead (13-10) in Week 2, the Millers have lost the last six by an average of 28 points per game.
Windsor Hutchins is passing 83 of 131 (63.4 percent) for 668 yards. He’s thrown three touchdowns but unfortunately has also thrown nine interceptions.
Noah Shinkle has 103 carries for 411 yards and six TDs to lead the run game. Alfred Alwine had 250 receiving yards on 16 catches and two touchdowns. Cody Prater leads the team with 18 receptions for 147 yards and a score.
Aidan Kincaide has 100 tackles and Alex Hamm has seven sacks. Dymonta Collier, Jr. leads the secondary with two interceptions.
Noblesville hosts Fishers in one semifinal of Class 6A Sectional 4 on Oct. 31.
6A No. 13 Hamilton Southeastern Royals (5-3, 3-2 HCC) at 6A No. 1 Brownsburg Bulldogs (8-0, 6-0 HCC)
Nothing says that HSE can’t play the role of spoiler for the second straight season. Last year, Brownsburg also came into Week 9 with an 8-0 record and were upset by the Royals, 30-23.
HSE holds a 15-11 mark against Brownsburg and has won three of the last five against the Bulldogs, including two of three.
Brownsburg went on the road last week and cruised to a 42-7 win. The Bulldogs have held four opponents under 10 points, including a 29-0 shutout of Cathedral in Week 2.
After defeating a solid Archbishop Spalding (Md.) in the season opener, 36-23, Brownsburg has really only been tested against two teams in HCC play. They outlasted Avon on the road, 55-47 and clawed to a 14-10 win at Westfield.
Oscar Frye is a 60 percent passer (99-164) for 1,514 yards and has 21 touchdown passes to just two interceptions.
Frye’s top receiver is Branden Sharpe with 666 yards on 34 catches and nine touchdowns. Avin Robinson also has 25 receptions for 405 and four TDs.
Brownsburg visits Pike on Oct. 31 in the other semifinal of 6A Sectional 5.
Southeastern started 3-0 with wins over Fort Wayne Carroll, North Central and Avon and then lost three in a row to Fishers, Westfield and Zionsville. The Royals have two wins in a row against Noblesville and Franklin Central at home.
Deaken Johnson is 57 of 98 (58.1 percent) for 844 yards, seven touchdowns and four picks. Carter Reed has 129 rushes for 486 yards and seven scores. Kendrick Pennybaker has caught 31 for 696 and six touchdowns.
The Royals hit the road at Homestead in the other semifinal of 6A Sectional 4 on Oct. 31.
