Actress Chasten Harmon has returned to her Hoosier roots and opened a Pure Green location at 8594 E. 116th St., in the heart of Fishers. The ribbon cutting is tomorrow, Oct. 16 at 1 p.m.
That is also Harmon’s birthday, and she is choosing to spend it giving customers the gift of healthy food.
“Pure Green is a family business,” Harmon said. “It’s myself, my sister – who’s also an actor – my brother-in-law, and then my mother and father decided to invest. One of the biggest reasons was because I have a very strict diet that I have to adhere to and I’m always struggling to find things that I can eat every time I come home to Indiana.”
Harmon was diagnosed with a rare autoimmune disorder in 2023, which forced her to both change her diet and learn about the nature of modern food.
“I’ve been navigating chronic illness for a few years now,” Harmon said. “So I haven’t been working for three years. I’m ecstatic to be back to work and it just feels like having a ribbon cutting on a 40th birthday celebrating a new chapter like there’s nowhere else I would rather be. I’m very excited for it.”

Harmon is back to work both as a new business owner and in her acting career, having just finished a working on an indie horror film called Venus: The Fibonacci Sequence.
“I’ve done the time in New York, and I’ve done the time in L.A.,” Harmon said. “The older I get, the more I crave a smaller, slower pace of living – a more community-oriented lifestyle. Fishers was the best location that we found for the store, and I was really excited about it because it was right next to the art center, and I’m an artist, of course.”
Harmon, originally from Columbus, Ind., said she has loved living in Fishers since moving here in May.
“I wasn’t sure how I was going to take to it, but I have been loving it ever since I moved here,” Harmon said. “It’s just been blowing my mind how amazing the community is. I even ran into a family friend in the building who was like, ‘I know! I moved here five years ago thinking I was only going to be here for one year and here I am five years later. I decided to stay because the community is so amazing, I couldn’t leave.’ So I’m really loving it and I’m really glad that I made the move. It’s kind of breaking my brain a little bit because I never pictured myself here.”
Harmon knew she wanted to invest in a restaurant, but she didn’t know which one.
“I kind of dove down a rabbit hole of research and when I came across Pure Green it just seemed to be the brand that was most in alignment with my values from not only from a product standpoint and the clean ingredients and superfoods that they use in their product but also on the back end from a sustainability standpoint,” Harmon said. “I loved the product so much and so it just seemed like a perfect fit.”
While Pure Green is a smoothie and juice bar, there are various healthy food options.
“We do acai bowls, which are really delicious, too,” Harmon said. “We don’t use a scoopable acai because it’s kind of packed with preservatives and sugars. We do a very pure acai that we blend ourselves to keep it as healthy as possible. We also do cold press juices. Those are made off-site and a facility that does a cold pressing process where they use water pressure to lock in the nutrients, kill all the pathogens, and it extends the shelf life.”
According to Harmon, when you’re juicing you have to drink it right away to get the most nutritional benefit from it. By contrast, Pure Green’s options can be stored in your refrigerator and still be beneficial months later.
If you stop by on Thursday, Oct. 16, you can meet the owners of this Pure Green location, try some healthy food options, and maybe win a prize.
“We’re gonna have music and we also are doing a promotion where we’ll have a ‘spin the wheel promotion,’” Harmon said. “If you come and spin the wheel, you can win a free smoothie or acai bowl or a booster – a third-party snack. We’re just asking folks to come down, bring a friend, spin the wheel, win some free stuff, and hang out with us for a couple hours.”
Pure Green Fishers is located at 8594 E. 116th St. The ribbon cutting takes place at 1 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 16.
