Noblesville High School Class of 1972 held a birthday party on Friday night, Oct. 3, at Forest Park in the Anderson Shelter.
We learned at the party that the shelter was built from a donation that was made to the Noblesville Parks Foundation by classmate Sara Anderson’s family. The birthday party recognized all Class of ‘72 classmates who were turning 72 this year and next. There were approximately 70 reservations from the Class of ‘72, including guests.
This was the first gathering since our 50-year class reunion that was held three years ago. The idea to hold a birthday party came about when Terri Sigman Kennedy contacted Peggy Baldwin Beaver about having a class party. Terri had purchased the use of the shelter at a fundraiser, and it had to be used by the end of 2025. Peggy suggested having a “Class of ‘72 turning 72” birthday party and the planning then began.
The evening started with a social hour, then appetizers followed by dinner. Cupcakes were made by classmate Tony Ebert Cassell. The highlight of the evening was Noblesville’s very own Rugged Brothers Band, who played from 6:30 to 9 p.m. The band is made up of classmates who graduated from Noblesville: John Green, Class of 1966; Bruce McMahon, Class of 1970; Mike Sigman, Class of 1975; Doug Robinson, Class of 1966; and Aimee McMahon Dodd, who is the daughter of band member Bruce McMahon, and ‘72 Classmate Terri Sigman Kennedy. The weather was perfect, and everyone had a great time reminiscing and catching up with old friends from our high school days.
After dinner, many classmates and friends from other NHS classes joined in the fun, which made the evening a big hit. Overall attendance was well over 100 people who showed up to celebrate the Class of 1972 turning 72. We all agreed we can’t wait until the next party. We all look forward to making this an annual event.
