The Fishers Tigers made their intentions clear from the first whistle, powering past the Noblesville Millers with a convincing win on Friday, Sept. 5.
The Millers started with the opening kickoff. The Tigers forced a three-and-out and a Noblesville punt. Shortly after, Ryan Thembulembu from Fishers took a 48-yard run to the red zone, then finished with a three-yard run to score a touchdown to establish early control of the game.
The Millers gained back possession but were forced to punt again. The Tigers found their rhythm finishing the drive with a seven-yard touchdown run by Thembulembu, extending the lead to 14-0 to close out the first quarter.
The Millers started off the second quarter stronger with a 26-yard field goal from Caden Lydle to put points on the board for the Millers. With the score 14-3, the Tigers connected passes to Vincent Rozzi for a 39-yard touchdown. Shortly after gaining possession again, Thembulembu scored another touchdown from 13 yards. To polish off the first half, Rozzi scored a 28-yard touchdown taking the Tigers into halftime with a commanding 35-3 lead.
Right into the second half, Darian Girton scored a 33-yard touchdown for the Tigers. Though still facing a steep deficit, Noblesville’s Noah Shinkle carried a five-yard touchdown to cut into the lead, making it 42-10 heading into the final quarter.
The Millers closed out the game with a strong final push, as Noah Shinkle found the end zone once again on a five-yard touchdown run. However, the late effort wasn’t enough to overcome the early deficit. The Tigers maintained control from start to finish, securing a 42-17 victory.
The Millers play at 7 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 12 at Westfield and the Tigers play at 7 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 12 at home against Hamilton Southeastern in the Mudsock game.
