The University boys tennis team hosted Noblesville Wednesday in an all-county dual meet that was postponed due to darkness.
Two matches did get completed before the meet was halted, so the Trailblazers and Millers are tied at 1-1. University won the No. 1 singles match: Kothe Birge was a winner over Dane Campbell 6-0, 6-2. Noblesville tied things up by taking the No. 3 singles match: Elijah Johnson beat Tad Costerison 6-4, 6-1.
The meet will resume Friday afternoon at the Blazers’ tennis courts.
Noblesville’s Andrew Rodgers is leading University’s Zack Couzens 7-6, 2-2 in the No. 2 singles match. In the No. 1 doubles match, the Trailblazers’ Nick Quinto and Carson Kilgore won the first set over the Millers’ Parker Stallings and Dustin Turpin 7-6, but the Noblesville team is leading 4-1 in the second set.
Both teams have split sets in the No. 2 doubles match. The Millers’ Nicky Schmiegal and Joey Schmiegal won the first 7-6, with University’s Tyler Davis and Daniel Boytsov taking the second set 7-5.
The Blazers host Western Boone at 4:30 p.m. today for their Senior Night meet.
