For the fifth consecutive season, Hamilton Southeastern has started the football season 2-0.
The Royals kept that streak going by rolling to a 31-7 victory Friday, Aug. 29 at North Central. Both teams scored a touchdown in the first quarter; Carter Reed broke the ice for Southeastern with a four-yard run into the end zone.
After that, it was all Royals. Southeastern put up two touchdowns in the second quarter, starting with a two-yard run from Tayshaun Sanders. Reed punched in the ball from the one-yard line for another TD with seven seconds left in the period, giving HSE a 21-7 halftime lead.
Luke Marchionni made all three extra-point kicks, and he added a 26-yard field goal in the third quarter. The Royals added one more touchdown, and it was a big one: Kendrick Pennybaker took a 77-yard reception from Terry Walker III into the end zone. Marchionni made the kick, giving him a perfect 4-for-4 record for the night.
Walker connected on 14 of 19 passes for 272 yards. Graham Toner made four of those catches, while Pennybaker had three receptions totaling 136 yards.
Southeastern begins Hoosier Crossroads Conference play this Friday by hosting Avon.
