A young Hamilton Heights girls soccer team made the trip to University Wednesday for an all-county game.
The Huskies came out on top 1-0 in a competitive contest. Heights is full of freshmen this year – there are five freshmen starting and nine total on the roster.

“It’s just a young team figuring out how to play at this level,” said Huskies coach Travis Kauffman.
Heights freshmen Hallie Sheller scored the goal, with another ninth-grader, Meredith Robinson, making the assist. As a result, the Huskies picked up their second consecutive win after a 1-5 start to the season. Heights beat Yorktown 4-2 last Saturday.
The 3-5 Huskies play at Frankfort this afternoon.
Meanwhile, the Trailblazers have a new coach this season: Dimitri Georgakopoulos, a University graduate who played on the boys soccer team. This year’s Blazers girls team is 2-3, beating Scecina 5-0 and Shortridge 7-0 last week, and gave a solid effort against Heights.
“I’m incredibly proud of the way we played today,” said Georgakopoulos.
University plays at Bethesda Christian Friday in a Pioneer Conference game.

Noblesville won an all-county battle over Fishers 1-0 Wednesday in a Hoosier Crossroads Conference game at Hallmark Orthodontics Soccer Complex.
Corynn Fleck scored the Class 3A No. 20 Millers’ goal, assisted by Kendall Kramer.
Noblesville is 2-0 in conference play and 3-2 overall. The Millers play this weekend at the Paul Loggan Invitational at North Central, taking on Class 1A state champion Faith Christian at 5:30 p.m. Friday. Noblesville then takes on 1A No. 18 Lafayette Central Catholic at 9 a.m. Saturday.
The Tigers are 0-3 in the conference and 2-5-1 overall. Fishers is back in action next Wednesday, Sept. 10 when it hosts Hamilton Southeastern in the Mudsock game.
The Royals beat Avon 4-0 Wednesday in an HCC contest; stats were unavailable at press time. Southeastern is 3-0 in the conference and 7-0 overall.

Sheridan stayed unbeaten for the season by beating Western Boone 3-0 Wednesday in a home game.
Sadie Timme got the Class 1A No. 9 Blackhawks on the board during the game’s third minute with a kick into the upper left corner. Isabel Buxton scored her first career goal in the 14th minute, and that gave Sheridan a 2-0 lead going into halftime.
The ‘Hawks got one more goal with 14 minutes left in the game when Avery Hills put a ball in the net. Senior goalkeeper Makenzy Terry recorded her fourth shutout of the season.
The Blackhawks are 4-0-1 and play in the Paul Loggan Invitational this weekend at North Central. Sheridan will have two games against high-quality opponents, taking on the 3A Panthers at 5:30 p.m. Friday to open play. The Blackhawks then take on Faith Christian at 9 a.m. Saturday.

Carmel beat Center Grove 4-0 on Tuesday.
Four different Greyhounds scored one goal: Olivia Joyce, Emma Ehret, Elsie Flanders and Adalyn Cameron, who also dished out two assists. Ehret, Flanders both made one assist.
Carmel is 5-2 and hosts 2A No. 1 Mishawaka Marian Friday night.

Westfield played to a 1-1 tie with Zionsville Wednesday in a battle of 3A top-10 ranked Hoosier Crossroads Conference teams.
The No. 8 Eagles scored their goal in the first half, but the No. 6 Shamrocks responded in the second half. Westfield’s Talia Edwards created a run that sent the Shamrocks forward. Elle Fischer finished with the goal, taking a touch around a Zionsville defender and blasting the ball into the net.
The tie brought an end to Westfield’s win streak, although the Rocks are still unbeaten for the year at 5-0-1, and are 2-0-1 in conference play. Westfield’s next game is Saturday when it hosts Pendleton Heights.
