Hamilton Heights scored its first Hoosier Conference win of the season Friday, Sept. 26, beating Logansport 22-14 to win its Homecoming game.
The Huskies scored first, with Drew Woodruff dashing six yards for a touchdown run. Keegan Kavanaugh followed that with the first of his two extra-point kicks. The Berries later made their own touchdown run, tying the game at 7-7 by the end of the quarter.
The second quarter was scoreless, so the game stayed 7-7 at halftime. Heights surged ahead in the third quarter, with Woodruff throwing a 13-yard touchdown pass to Cam Fleming. Kavanaugh’s kick gave the Huskies a 14-7 lead.
Logansport tied the game early in the fourth quarter with a touchdown pass. After what turned out to be a tumultuous fourth period, Heights took the lead for good with 1:26 left when AJ Flannagan ran seven yards into the end zone. Landon Hickman sealed the game with a two-point run.
Woodruff completed 14 of 23 pass attempts for 215 yards. Dre Chandler caught four of those receptions for 73 yards. Nathan Flanders led the tackles with nine, while Will Duncan and Cyrus Mason each made one sack.
The Huskies are 1-1 in conference play and 2-4 overall. Heights travels to Twin Lakes this Friday for another conference contest.
