Carmel rebounded from its first loss of the season in emphatic fashion Friday, Sept. 19, rolling past visiting Columbus North 56-7.
The Greyhounds scored in every quarter, beginning with an Andrew Pemberton one-yard touchdown run midway through the opening period. Carmel dominated the second quarter, putting in four touchdowns for a 35-0 lead, which resulted in a running clock for the entirety of the second half.
Anthony Coellner threw three touchdown passes during the second period, including a 77-yarder to Jacob Bellin. Coellner began the quarter with a short pass to Spencer Sell, then connected with Bellin again for a short TD throw at the end of the half. Meanwhile, Pemberton cruised 24 yards into the end zone for his second score of the game with a minute before halftime.
Ayden Johnson made his own touchdown run in the third quarter, sprinting 18 yards into the end zone early in the period. Josiah Gilmore finished the third with a 55-yard TD run. In the fourth quarter, Jackson Treadway connected with Carson Clark for a 79-yard touchdown reception.
Matthew Obermeier made all eight of his extra-point kicks. Coellner finished 12 of 14 through the air, totaling 178 yards. Clark caught four of those passes for 121 yards, while Bellin also made four receptions, for 101 yards.
Carmel is 4-1 and hosts North Central Friday for its Homecoming game.
