The Sheridan football team had a happy Homecoming night Friday, Sept. 19, as the Blackhawks rolled past Clinton Prairie 40-6 in a Hoosier Heartland Conference game.
Alex Cravens got Sheridan on the board in the first quarter with the first of his three touchdown runs. The Hawks blasted further ahead in the second period, scoring 21 points for a 27-0 halftime lead. Hayden Alexander took a long run into the end zone, going 84 yards for Sheridan’s second TD of the game. Brock Hagan made a two-point run. Cravens and Hagan both made short touchdown runs late in the second quarter.
Alexander started the third quarter with another long touchdown sprint, this one for 55 yards. Cravens added his third score with two minutes in the third, instituting a running clock. Jonathan Faupel made the extra-point kick, his second of the night.
“Things are coming together at the right time,” said Blackhawks coach Jake Chesney. “We’re trying to win the games in Tuesday and Wednesday practices. They’re bought in. Practices are fun, but we’re getting a lot done.”
Alexander finished the game with 168 yards rushing.
Sheridan has a 2-0 record in HHC play and is 3-1 overall. The Blackhawks travel to Taylor this Friday to continue conference action.
