Carmel overwhelmed Centerville (Ohio) 48-0 Friday, Sept. 5 at Carmel Stadium, keeping the Greyhounds’ perfect record intact for the season.
The game was all Carmel from the start, as the ‘Hounds scored two touchdowns in each of the first three quarters. Anthony Coellner had an outstanding performance, throwing for four TDs on 15-of-18 passing for 244 yards.
Coellner sent long touchdown passes to Jacob Bellin (30 yards) and Carson Clark (32 yards) in the second quarter, then added scoring passes to Spencer Sell (six yards) and Alim Broadnax (42 yards) in the third period.
Coellner also scored Carmel’s first touchdown on a 26-yard run early in the opening period. Andrew Pemberton took off on 32-yard scoring run midway through the first quarter, giving the Greyhounds an early 14-0 lead. Sell’s third-quarter TD put Carmel ahead 35-0, instituting a running clock.
Josiah Gilmore scored a fourth-quarter touchdown on a 24-yard run. Michael Obermeier made all seven extra-point kicks. Bellin made five receptions for 122 yards.
Carmel is 3-0 and plays at Louisville Trinity this Friday.
