Big news in high school sports broke on Thursday, as Carmel and Center Grove are rejoining the Metropolitan Interscholastic Conference (MIC).
The two schools will be rejoining the conference in the 2026-27 school year, the conference announced.
Carmel and Center Grove were previously members of the conference, but were voted out in December 2021.
“Together, we can share expertise, expand leadership opportunities for students and staff, and build collaborative initiatives that benefit every community,” Carmel administrators said in a statement.
“We believe in the power of a conference that reflects and uplifts the full range of student experiences—academic excellence, the arts, and collaboration among member schools,” Center Grove administration said in a statement.
The MIC will now be back to eight schools, including: Ben Davis, Carmel, Center Grove, Lawrence Central, Lawrence North, North Central, Pike, and Warren Central.
