Hamilton Southeastern volleyball has won two of the past three 4A state championships and has started the season unbeaten.
A big reason for their success is the Miles family. Twin sisters Madi and Raegan Miles are senior leaders for the team. Plus, their younger sister Morgan is also in the program, playing on the freshman team this season.
Madi is an outside hitter and is committed to Illinois. Raegan plays multiple positions and is committed to Taylor.
Madi and Raegan say the bond they share is special on and off the court, and they are excited for their senior season.
“It’s great having my sister on my team with me,” Madi said. “We’ve played on club teams together for forever, almost every year besides maybe once or twice, so I’ve always played with her. It’s great to have someone on the court that I’ve connected with that I’m always with all the time.”
“It’s a bond you can’t really recreate with a normal friend or teammate because we’re able to support each other but also push each other throughout the years,” Raegan said.
“It’s great to watch just the level they compete at and the energy that’s on their court and I like to contribute it to my court and how I play,” Morgan said.
The family atmosphere is exactly what HSE volleyball head coach Jason Young is looking for.
“We preach a lot of things about family in the program so it’s nice to see we have three Miles’ in the program,” Young said. “There’s actually a younger one that’s in our middle school program right now. So seeing their love for volleyball and just how good they are and how much they’ve enjoyed it and how much they’ve impacted our program has been really tremendous.”
