Three Westfield individuals also qualify

The Noblesville gymnastics team is vaulting back to the state finals.
The Millers placed third at the Franklin Central regional, which took place Friday, March 6 at The Gymnastics Company. The top three teams at each regional advance to the state meet, which takes place this Saturday, March 14, at Ball State University’s Worthen Arena.
New Palestine won the regional with 108.55 points, followed by Columbus North in second with 108.25 points. Noblesville’s score was 106.55 points, which sets a new school record. The previous record was 106.45, set by the Millers in 2001.
Hailey Nobbe also set a new Noblesville record while placing fourth in the floor exercise. Nobbe totaled a 9.50, resetting her own record of 9.425 that she set earlier in the year.
Valorey Bittles had the highest placing by tying for third in the balance beam. Her score was 9.05. Bittles also placed fifth in the vault with a 9.00.
The Millers will return to state for the first time since 2008.

Westfield competed at the Portage regional on Saturday, March 7 and qualified three gymnasts as individuals.
Sonoma Fischer scored 35.60 in the all-around to advance to state. The top six gymnasts, plus the next three not on an advancing team qualify for the state meet. Fischer placed ninth overall.
The Shamrocks qualified two more gymnasts in the balance beam event. Both placed in the top 10: Kelsey Atkinson tied for seventh with 9.175, while Madie Doran placed ninth with 9.10.
As a team, Westfield placed fourth with 103.75 points. Valparaiso won the regional (110.40), followed by Portage (108.00) and Lake Central (107.525); all three advance to state as teams.
