A supermarket on the north side of Indianapolis is part of a recall due to a risk of serious contamination from rodent and avian source at a distribution site that supplies the store, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration announced in December.
The recall involved FDA-regulation products from Gold Star Distribution Inc., based in Minneapolis.
The Indianapolis store involved in the recall is Aimmart International Super Mercado, located on the southwest corner of West 86th Street and Ditch Road.
The recall, issued on Friday, Dec. 26, affects several products including medical devices, drugs, human food, candies, pet foods, and cosmetics.
The FDA discovered numerous instances of unhygienic conditions at the Gold Star facility, including the presence of rodent excreta, urine, and bird droppings in areas where products are stored. The FDA believes they represent a significant risk of contamination to consumers and animals who handle or ingest the affected products.
