Kiwanis Club of Cicero
There are few sights more stirring than the American flag waving proudly in the morning breeze. It reminds us of who we are, what we stand for, and the generations who built this nation.
This year, as our country celebrates 250 years of independence, the Kiwanis Club of Cicero is inviting residents to show their patriotism in a meaningful way by joining the Avenue of Flags program.
The program is simple but powerful. On designated patriotic holidays (Memorial Day, Flag Day, Independence Day, Patriot Day, and Veterans Day), Kiwanis volunteers place a beautiful American flag in front of subscribers’ homes and return a week later to respectfully collect it. The result is a breathtaking display of red, white, and blue throughout the community, an “avenue” of flags that reminds everyone of the pride we share in our country.
But the Avenue of Flags is about more than patriotic spirit. Every subscription helps fund programs that directly benefit children in our communities.
One of the most meaningful is the club’s Books for a Bright Future program. Through this effort, every elementary school student in our communities receives a brand-new book to call their very own. For many children, it’s the first book they’ve ever owned. The joy on their faces when they open that book is something Kiwanis members never forget.
Reading is the foundation for learning, imagination, and opportunity. Thanks to the community’s support of the Avenue of Flags, hundreds of local children are discovering the magic of reading.
And the Kiwanis Club has an even bigger dream.
With continued support from the community, the club hopes to expand the Books for a Bright Future program into the middle school, putting even more books into the hands of students who need them. Every flag subscription helps make that goal possible.
That’s why the Kiwanis Club has opened its second subscription opportunity for the Avenue of Flags program. The club hopes more residents will take part in this patriotic tradition, filling our neighborhoods with flags while investing in the future of our children.
Imagine driving through town on a summer holiday and seeing flag after flag lining the streets. It’s more than decoration. It’s a statement about who we are as a community, patriotic, generous, and committed to our children.
The Kiwanis Club of Cicero is inviting everyone to be part of that vision.
Subscribe to the Avenue of Flags today and help bring pride to our streets and books to our children.
