The Carmel swim teams hosted their own Winter Invitational on Tuesday.
Both the Greyhounds girls and boys teams won their respective divisions. The Carmel girls scored 875 points to finish first, while the Carmel boys got a push from St. Charles Preparatory from Columbus, Ohio. The Hounds still won, scoring 731 to St. Charles’ 665.
“We love having St. Charles come over here,” said Carmel coach Chris Plumb. “Their head coach and I swam with each other in college. He has a great boys team, we got a great boys team, so it’s good to see a lot of close races. Good, friendly competition.”
Carmel’s girls won six events, starting with the medley relay. Leah DeBosch, Molly Sweeney, Ellie Clarke and Sophia Floyd won that race in 1 minute, 43.68 seconds.
Clarke picked up two more wins, in the individual medley and backstroke. Haley Morris finished first in the 200 freestyle, while freshman Helayna Weller led a Greyhound sweep of the top five in the 500 free.
Carmel also claimed the 200 free relay. Sweeney, Clarke, DeBosch and Floyd won that event in 1:35.64.
In the boys meet, Trent Allen and Yi Zheng both won two individual events. Allen was first in the 200 and 500 freestyles, while Zheng won the IM and breaststroke.
